TYPES Of AWARDS
Hey Students, First of all, we will Discuss the Awards, Types of Awards etc.
An Award may be also called Distinction, which means Something given to a person or People as a Token of Excellence of Best in a Certain Field.
If the Token is a Medal, Ribbon or anything else which is designed for Wearing, then it is called as Decoration.
An Award is described by Three Aspects:
- Who is Given (किसे दिया जाता है)
- What is Given (क्या दिया गया)
- By Whom is Given (किसके द्वारा दिया गया है)

2. INTERNATIONAL AWARDS
NATIONAL AWARDS
The National Award is the Award of India are Awarded by the Government of India to People for their best performance in different fields.
These Awards are Divided into Four different Categories.
1. Civilian Award
2. Gallantry Award
3. National Sports Awards of India
4. Literary Award in India
CIVILIAN AWARD
Further, they can be divided into four categories:
1. Bharat Ratna.
This is India's highest Civilian Award. The award is given for outstanding achievements in the arts, literature, science, as well as public service of the highest level. Governmental servants are not applicable for this Award.

2. PADMA VIBHUSHAN
This is the Second-highest Civilian Award in India, introduced on 1954. This Award is Given for exceptional and distinguished service in any field, including service rendered by Govt. servants.
3. PADMA BHUSHAN
This is the Third-highest Civilian Award conferred by the Indian Government for exceptional services in any field.
4. PADMA SHRI
Last but not least, It is the Fourth highest Civilian Award honoured by the Government for excellent services or performance of the highest order in any field.
GALLANTRY AWARDS
This Award belongs to Indian Soldiers for exceptional Valor, Dignity, Courage and Sacrifice. This Award was introduced on 4 Jan 1952.
These Awards are further Divided into Six types:
1. PARAM VIR CHAKRA
The word Param vir means "Wheels of the ultimate Brave". It is the highest award for Bravery or Some daring or outstanding fighting skills in front of the enemy, whether on land, at sea or in the air.
2. MAHAVIR CHAKRA
It is the Second-highest prestigious wartime gallantry award. This Award is awarded for acts of conspicuous in front of enemy.
3. VIR CHAKRA
It is the third in order of Awards given for acts of gallantry in the presence of enemy.
4. ASHOKA CHAKRA
It is the most prestigious gallantry award that is awarded to a soldier or army officers for their outstanding courage on the battlefield.
5. VISHISHTA SEWA MEDAL
It is awarded to personnel of all the three Services in class I, II and III.
6. JEEWAN RAKSHA PADAK
It is awarded for meritorious acts or a series of acts of human nature displayed in saving life from Drowning, Fire and Rescue operations in mines.
NATIONAL SPORTS AWARD
This award is presented to sportsmen for their outstanding performance and excellence in sports.
These are further Divided into Four types:
1. RAJIV GANDHI KHEL RATNA AWARD
This award is given to a sportsperson from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports in India.
2. ARJUNA AWARD
It is the oldest sports award in India and was introduce in 1961. This Award is Given to sportsperson who have continuously given outstanding performance for at least four years in a row in National and International Games.
3. DRONACHARYA AWARD
It was introduced in 1985 by the Indian Government. This award is given to the Coaches who prepared and guide the Players to achieve big in Sports.
4. DHYAN CHAND AWARD
It is the most prestigious sporting award that is given to the Hockey player or Legend of India who scored more than 1000 goals in his career of 20 years.
