Essay on We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are
We all have different perspectives on life in general. There are many factors that influence our
opinions and our way of thinking. Your past experiences, your social environment and the people
around you have a major impact on how you perceive certain events. You can not help but
experience the world from the perspective of your own beliefs, attitudes, and values. If you see
someone who has a lot of money, you might think this person is rich. However, when you hear that
they donate a large part of their income to charity, you will undoubtedly be able to look at this
person in a completely different way! Our attitude towards life changes with every passing moment.
Epictetus was a Greek Stoic philosopher who lived in the second century AD. He said: “We don’t see
things as they are, we see them as we are.”
This quote is about how our past experiences, social environment and people around us influence
our way of thinking.
You can not help but experience the world from the perspective of your own beliefs, attitudes and values.
You can not help but experience the world from the perspective of your own beliefs, attitudes and
values. This includes everything from what you think about yourself and others to how you feel
about things in general.
It’s important to keep in mind that you are the only one who can make your life better by changing
certain aspects of it (and there are many). You also have total control over what happens with
relationships with others as well as how they affect every aspect of your life - including health,
happiness etc.
Our attitude towards life changes with every passing moment
As you grow older, your attitude towards life changes. You
begin to see the world through a different lens and that can have a direct
impact on how you live your life.
When I was younger, I often thought about death as something
that would happen soon. It wasn’t until my late twenties that I realized that
it could be decades before we all died—which is why this topic seems so distant
from me now! Then again, maybe it's because I've learned so much over these
past twenty years or so; maybe there are things about myself and other people
that we haven't discovered yet.
This is the problem with thinking about death—it makes you
focus on yourself. You begin to wonder what will become of your loved ones when
you’re gone, whether or not they will be okay without you around, and how it
would feel if one day they were no longer there. You also think about what
happens after death.
Perspective is everything!
When you think about it, perspective is everything. You can not help but experience the world from
your own beliefs, attitudes and values.
We see things as they are only because we are accustomed to them; To someone else, they may not
appear so obvious or self-evident.
If there was no colour red in our environment then it would be easy for us to believe that all other
colours exist because of something else (like blue). However when there is a lot of redness around us
then we start seeing more reds than any other colour which makes it look like all other colours should
be slightly darker and more saturated than usual (in comparison with other shades).
Conclusion
We all have different perspectives on life in general. There are many factors that influence our
opinions and our way of thinking. Your past experiences, your social environment and the people
around you have a major impact on how you perceive certain events.
